Apparently fit, healthy young athletes as young as 9 years old have experienced cardiac episodes during participation in sports activities.
In almost all cases, a preventive screening would have detected the underlying problem and saved a life!
LifeSavers Student Athlete Screenings uses the echocardiogram (transthoracic echocardiogram) test to look at the hearts chambers, valves, movement, blood flow through the chambers, and blood flow through the coronary arteries. No other screening evaluates the coronary arteries as we do.
